PFLAG Zionsville/Boone County
Founded in 2025 and led by local families, our chapter of PFLAG is here to offer connection, education, and advocacy for LGBTQ+ people and those who love them. We are parents, friends and allies united in love and support of LGBTQ+ individuals. We are here to offer a listening ear and strong voice for equality right here in our hometown. Whether you're looking for someone to talk to, trustworthy resources or a way to make a difference - you're not alone. We're glad you're here.
Provide Support – PFLAG Zionsville/Boone County facilitates monthly in-person and online support groups for parents and allies of LGBTQ+ folks. We also provide periodic programs for special topics and events.
Offer Education – We provide free access to educational resources through PFLAG National, covering topics like LGBTQ+ identities, allyship, and advocacy.
Locally, our support group meetings often include info-sharing and discussion on specific topics, and we plan to host occasional educational events as our chapter grows.
Advocate – PFLAG strives to partner with other local organizations to educate key decision-makers about the issues that affect our loved ones and families, and to teach others how to use their voices to amplify our efforts toward a more equitable, and just world for the LGBTQ+ community.
Meet Our Board
Ellie serves as the President of PFLAG Zionsville/Boone County.
Julia Lenox Haines is the Vice-President of PFLAG Zionsville/Boone County. She is a Boone County native, wife, mother, and grandmother (Juju) to her precious granddaughters who live nearby. She has been actively involved in Zionsville as a teacher and community volunteer over the years. She and her husband have 2 adult children.
She became interested in LGBTQ+ issues when her son came out as gay 15 years ago. He is now 37 and a psychotherapist for LGBTQ+ individuals and families in New York City. Her family has grown in their understanding, and it has been a journey. What she thought would break her heart has become one of the best things that has happened to her. She is very excited to be part of the first PFLAG chapter in Boone County. Julie is also excited to be serving on the board of the newly established Zionsville Pride.
When she is not involved with these activities, you might find Julie and her husband at their little Happy Place in
Brown County. They enjoy traveling and plan to do a bit more now that he is semi-retired.
Lexi Smith serves as Secretary to the Board of PFLAG Zionsville–Boone County. She is passionate about standing against discrimination and believes supporting the rights of future generations is essential—transforming fear into the foundation for a better tomorrow. With more than 20 years of business experience, most of it rooted locally, Lexi moved to Indiana 15 years ago and has since developed a deep appreciation for the strength and care of the Boone County community where she now calls home.
Lauren Carson is the Treasurer for PFLAG Zionsville/Boone County. She brings over 15 years of experience in accounting and nonprofit finance, including serving as Controller at the Northern Arizona University Foundation and holding board leadership roles with the Master Chorale of Flagstaff and the Flagstaff Festival of Science.
Now based in Zionsville, Lauren co-owns a business with her husband and is raising two daughters in the community. She is passionate about building an inclusive and welcoming environment for all families, and believes in using her voice and experience to support equity and belonging for LGBTQ+ individuals.
Katlynn is proud to serve on the board of PFLAG Zionsville/Boone County, where she helps lead community outreach as the chapter’s Social Media Coordinator. She’s passionate about creating an affirming, welcoming space for LGBTQ+ people, their families, and allies. When she’s not advocating for equality or crafting a post for Instagram, you can usually find her exploring local trails, snuggling her cats, or shuttling her children to and from activities.
Ashleigh serves as the Event Chairperson for PFLAG Zionsville/Boone County.
